The Petroleum Technology Research Centre in Regina is leading an international research project in southeast Saskatchewan to study the effectiveness of permanently storing carbon dioxide (CO2) underground.

The Revenue Management and Billing project (RMBP), a part of the PRIME program, is implementing new billing applications to calculate and invoice:

  • Royalties and Taxes on oil and gas production
  • Provisional Royalties on oil imbalances and gas metering differences associated with facility level reporting
  • Non-Compliance Fees based on missing data and errors in Registry reporting

The first phase of RMBP will be implemented when the Petroleum Registry goes live in Saskatchewan on April 2, 2012 (March 2012 production month). Industry will begin to see these changes with invoices issued in May 2012. Subsequent phases will take place in late 2012/early 2013.

As of April 2, 2012, Saskatchewan has implemented the Petroleum Registry for industry to report specific volumetric, infrastructure, valuation and royalty-related information to Energy and Resources. The following directives outline the steps industry needs to take to meet their reporting obligations using the Registry starting with the March 2012 production month.
